Biography With a name like Psalm 151, we've heard all kinds of comments and questions thrown our way to clarify it's meaning.
From, "You do know that there are only 150 Psalms in the Bible, don't you?" to "Are you all trying to add to the scriptures or something?", we've heard them all. Simple explanation, here it goes: The Psalmists would endlessly Praise God, for He is worthy, and if you look close within these ancient "songs of praise", you would also hear cries of joy, pain, success, failure, fear, strength, and loud shouts of praise and exultation. The psalms also ask us to "Sing a NEW song to the Lord". Psalm 151 merely seeks to continue the songs of praise, pain, joy, triumph, success, failure. Based on real feelings, emotions, and life experiences, we seek to share with everyone the hope of the Gospel, the hope and truth that is within "No God but our God", Jesus Christ. He is "Why We Sing". By keeping an open and honest dialogue with our Lord, we desire to teach people about "True Worship" (Gospel of John 4:21-24) and being obedient to God's will through worship (Gospel of Matthew 6:9-13, Book of Revelation 4:8-11). Psalm 151 has been a band since 2003 and carries with it the line-up of Tim Underwood (keyboards/vocals), Heather Underwood (vocals), Chris Mew (vocals), Seth Kellum (Guitars), Nic Flanagan (Drums), and Bruce Bailey (Bass/Vocals). The band is truly a mixture of all backgrounds, styles, etc. On Sundays, the band serves at two different churches. Tim and Heather are the Worship Leaders at St. Paul's Church and play along with Nic. Chris is the Worship Leader at River of Life Church and is joined in that praise team with both Seth and Bruce. Tim Underwood says, "It's amazing to see how we come together like family. We truly love each other and truly love making fun of each other. That's the best part. God has blessed us in allowing us to faithfully serve where we are called with local congregations, and yet He doesn't allow these things to serve as a barrier. If anything they bring us closer. Denominational titles and barriers mean nothing to us, it is only Jesus and His Gospel that matters." Our vision is clear, use the medium of music to bring people into "true worship", where we are "broken" before our Lord, and fully realize our need for Him. It is our prayer that our songs and our messages of hope bless each one who hears them. Currently Psalm 151 is continuing to walk by faith in the hopes that more will come to hear the songs and messages that the Lord has laid on our hearts. All honor and glory be unto God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Amen. |
