Biography BLESSED Emerging from the depths of the musical ocean in Atlanta, Georgia comes one of the most unconventional, mind changing artist in the last ten years. The market, the streets, and the people have all been calling for someone to come with a sound that will galvanize the game and revolutionize its future. With the release of his demo debut Time, the eccentric emcee/artist/producer/writer Blessed, born Roderick Brown, is beginning a new chapter in the industry and in his own career.
Born in Atlanta on in 1980, Blessed grew up with 6 other siblings in a lower class, poverty-stricken neighbor hood in tough times that gave him not only street knowledge but testimony. Always seeking to grow and better life for his family and himself, he focused on any outlet that would afford him the opportunity. After multiple years of playing percussion instruments in orchestras, classical, symphonic, and marching bands, he found his calling in his first love of music, more specifically, in the genre of hip hop. In 1998, while attending Florida A&M University (FAMU), Blessed earned immediate respect and success by performing during talent shows and a host of other venues that fueled his hunger and desire to “bless” microphones. Jeff Thompson, A&R at Def Jam South Recordings stated that he "heard a fire that couldn’t be quenched from the voice [he] heard on a demo that was sent to him in 2001" that featured Blessed at the age of 21. With a decade of experience under his belt, he is continually developing a trend setting mindset that can only produce a massive following. Some things have changed since he was at FAMU performing—entertaining the student body. The most important thing is that Blessed has grown in maturity and spirituality. And without stepping into the pulpit, Blessed exemplifies conscience thoughts and catch phrases that entertains as well as educates through his music and lyrics. Having made an official entrance onto the scene in the summer of 2005 with the release of The Clergy presents V.1, Blessed was formally introduced on a compilation project that featured other artists associated with the movement and has led to the fire Blessed is blazing. With no distribution or recording contract inked, co-producer Keith Thomas and Blessed set out to sell and promote the compilation in the streets of Atlanta, creating a buzz that has yet to settle. Without the help of formal promotion, radio spots or advertisement, The Clergy presents Volume 1 has grossed astonishing sales and opened up avenues for future performances as well as created anticipation of the his next album. Blessed has a vision on the future of music that many people have yet to fathom. He knows were he's going and because of that he knows where the people who hear his music will go. Blessed realizes he has a long way to go but seeing the long way that he's come and acquiring a skill set that will surpass itself, he knows that there is nothing in his way. Blessed responds to anyone challenging his ability to be a force to be reckoned with within the entertainment industry. While Blessed remains unsignedcurrently, he aspires to do whatever it takes to ensure that the quality of music in today's mainstream is filled with God's love, and is a positive
