The Gallia County Fair, FRIDAY!!!

RomansHighway (07/31/08 07:19:54)   Tag: Testimony

Hey everyone! Thanks for taking the time out of your schedules to sit and read our blogs and look at our page. You guys are awesome! So, lets get to the point of there here blog.

THE FAIR!

Its finally here, and I have to be honest, I am super excited! I know all the rest of the guys are too.  I wanna testify a little bit, because this fair show is special to me. See, since I came back to the Lord and repented from my retarded ways, I have been blessed. I mean !!BLESSED!! type of blessed. 2 Decembers ago, I started a little Christian metal band called Armistäce. I'm a musician. I have to do it. Anyways, that band went and toured all over Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. We played everywhere from Cleveland, OH to Lexington, KY. It was a real blessing in my life. God blesseed that band's efforts and we saw souls saved. I felt the Spirit on stage in those early days of the band just like I feel it now with Romans Highway. Then August comes last year and that little band bets a Friday night spot at the Gallia County Fair main stage. Oh yea. For a group of High School kids (I was the oldest by a year), this was making it. We played the show and it is one of those experiences I will never forget.  Now as this little stiry goes on, that band lost its focus and I felt God calling me out of it. Let me tell you, I fought that. I know I shouldn't have but I did. Armistäce was my baby. I had forgot the reason I started it. It became about the music and making a career instead of serving the Lord. I finally gave in January something or other.

Then out of no where, this guy I barely spoke to in high school calls me up in between classes at URG. He says he's starting a Christian band that does things in the softer rock style, ie Third Day, Leeland, Newsboys, Jeremy Camp (his examples). Now here is where I know that God is doing this. For the last few months I had been really into this Third Day cd dad got for me 2 years ago. I hadn't listened to it before then, and you know, I honestly was thinking I could reach more people in that type of band. (Plus I wanted to play guitar in a band. I handn't done that before.) So I get this call asking me to join a new band with a guy I know can tear it up vocally, (pay attention) 1 WEEK after I quit Armistäce! I hadn't talked to Rick since high school.

Here is the kicker. This new band has less experience as musicians, less experience performing, but they all desire to be closer to the Lord, and in my mind, that is all it takes. Now, we're playing Friday night at the fair main stage! And we're actually musically and performance wise ready! This group of musical miscreants has become an actual band worthy of playing on such a stage. (I'm not tooting my own horn here.) We have seen so much in such a short time span, it is impossible to think that God hasn't blessed us. In return, it is all given up to Him. All the talent, shows and financial backing we have experienced is because of His ever provident hand moving for us.

So thats my story I guess. I went from a backsliden boy, mascarading around in bands that were going no where, to a child of God taking part in 2 ministries that have been extremely blessed.

God Bless
Rex
Ps. If you have a Romans Highway shirt, wear it Friday. Let everyone see who supports us and our God!

Thank You For Helping Out!

Hey everyone! First off, let me thank you for taking the time to read
this. We love having the support that you guys give us. Now on to other
things. We wanted to say thank you to all of you who donated to Global
Tribe and To Write Love On Her Arms last Friday. You guys raised $189.
We're gonna do our bit and make an even $200, so basically, you guys
raised $100 for each charity. Give yourselves a pat on the back. Now
let me tell you what that money will do. Global Tribe will take your
money and build entire villages for the impoverished in Mexico and food
for the hungry around the world. That means children will get
schooling, medical treatment, a proper diet, a house to live in all
because of that dollar or two you threw in the drum Friday evening.
TWLOHA will take your money and pay their workers who are on myspace
answering the desperate messages from kids who are on the brink, help
provide financial support to 5 or more teen and depression hotlines and
go to youth events such as warped tour and let kids know about the help
that is out there. Basically, you guys just saved lives. It's all
because of you. NOT US. YOU! So give yourelves a pat on the back and
tonight, before you pass out, say a little prayer for us and these two
awesome organizations.
Thank You and God Bless!
