The times they are a changing

Rex Lee Smith (02/25/08 22:28:09)   Tag: default
After big plans for post retirement I got dealt a couple physical setbacks. And have been mostly inactive while recovering. Here in upstate New York winter can be a time of reflection. I know of many very public pastors and radio/TV figures that take trips to isolated places to get some private time with God in hopes of getting some wisdom and direction. Since I'm not a fan of winter I find the snow and cold keeps me indoors enough that I achieve self isolation for days at a time. True I connect to friends via phone and the PC, but it is easy to turn both off and instantly be as isolated as being in the mountains. I've decided to upload a couple of new songs that contrast significantly from what I have been doing for some time. Blessed Are the Faithful was a co-write with Maria Kusel, a former church member who due to a number of hard events in her families life was looking for a sign from God that he is there for us. Specifically the 'us' that has had faith and worshiped for some time. I think it can be easy as in Jobs time to wonder if God has forgotten about you when a run of bad happenings occur. Her words do justice to our own feelings when there is a bad run of events. Additionally I took a familiar piece of music from the Cars and baptized the words with our destiny based on Revelations. Both of these were rough home studio cuts but are satisfactory for sharing. I hope those that listen find some enjoyment in both.

Well here I am!

I'm new to ChristianRocker. I plan to share some original music and I'd love to hear from anyone who takes the time to listen and drop a line. I'm not playing outside of home currently due to recovering from a broken ankle. Makes it tough to lift and carry. The playing and singing is easy. I need to downsize to an accoustic guitar and a bullhorn. Anyway, Thanks for dropping by.

In Christ, Rex Lee Smith
