Biography
Quite eccentric, he describes himself as Iyke Onka, son of the 'Most High' of Zion. But for those who won't understand, he is Nigerian born Ikwan Onwuka.

Iyke Onka is a B.Tech degree holder in Industrial Physics who after graduation, followed his passion to pursue a fulltime career in Audio Engineering and Music Production.

MUSICAL HISTORY

lyke Onka's musical history dates back to childhood. He grew up alongside his four siblings in what may be refered to as a 'music family'. His parents were musicians. His Dad was a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, while his Mum was basically a singer and a good one at that. (She is responsible for the soulful feel in lyke Onka's voice)

lyke Onka learnt the rudiments of music from his parents at a very tender age. His parents spotted and carefully nurtured his intense passion for sound and music and by the time he finished high school, he was already a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and a sound engineering enthusiast. Quite apparently, he was headed for a career in Music and Sound Engineering.

As a young adult, the most profound influence he had towards building a career both as a scientist and a musician came from a book he read out of his Dad's collections. The book titled 'Physics and Music' was first published in 1966 and in the concluding paragraph, its Russian author; Gleb Anfilov made a remarkable statement. He said:

“Everything in the boundless world of sound will serve the immortal human genius, the life-giving will of the artist. The musician of the future will not abandon the violin or the piano. Instead he will augment their aesthetic power, penetrability and range. He will be both a physicist and a poet and will make a happy union of knowledge and inspiration.”

I guess Anfilov was talking about lyke Onka. When it was time for his undergraduate studies, he choose Physics and true to Gleb Anfilov's prediction, he is now a musician, a physicist and a poet and he is making a happy union of inspiration and knowledge (not only of things pertaining to this world but also of things spiritual and eternal).

HIS MISSION IN MUSIC

For lyke Onka, music is a two-fold tool. On one hand, he uses his music to express and communicate his inspiration and convictions; the most sublime of which is Love (Agape). And on the other hand, he uses his music to make God happy. Iyke Onka believes that God derives immense pleasure when He hears him singing or playing any musical instrument. In his own words ''God enjoys every single note, every melodic ingredient and every harmonic spice in my special kind of music".

CHRISTIAN MUSIC IDEOLOGY

Here again, I think it would be safer to quote lyke Onka on his opinion about Christian music. He speaks:

''First of all, I'd like to explain what the term 'Christian Music' means to me. The word Christian simply means 'of Christ' and from an in-depth study of the Bible, Christ represents Jesus (the head) and the Church (His body) So, Christian music should be the kind of music that represents the person of Jesus and the eternal ideals of the universal church. Simply put, Christian music is the Jesus kind of music.

Jesus represents unconditional love (Agape). 'For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son (Jesus)…' John 3:16. Again, Jesus represents Grace and Truth (Reality). For …grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. John 1:17. When He was here in flesh, Jesus went about doing good; preaching the gospel to the poor; healing the broken hearted, preaching deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, setting at liberty them that are bruised, preaching the acceptable year of the Lord. Acts 10:38, Luke 4:18, 19. He lived in total submission to the will of the Father and died to set mankind free from sin and death. Moreover, He secured eternal life for all who would believe in Him.

So, for any piece of music to be dubbed Christian, it must reflect these eternal virtues of Christ. For the same reasons, Christian music is essentially spiritual. It was not only meant to appeal to the senses, (though it necessarily would have to). In fact it is a corruption of the real essence of the musical art, so to speak, that seeks only to appease the senses; making people dance, cry, laugh or get into a particular mood. This is where I draw the line of distinction. Most non-Christian music ends with getting people into a particular mood, which most often tends negatively to sex and violence, especially in our present generation. Christian music, on the other hand, goes beyond just setting a mood to imparting the human spirit with the life-giving Word of God. Christian music brings alive the personality of Jesus and ultimately creates eternal value in the life of the listener "

The predominant musical style in this album is soft rock, spiced up with lots of other musical flavors from his rich musical pedigree.

Although not restricted to any particular set of people, the style and lyrical content of the album 'Another Miracle' is such that will appeal more to young christians and the adult contemporary class.
