How Should We Come Together As A Church ?

romanrecordings (01/24/08 12:54:19)   Tag: Something To Think About
How Should We Come Together As A Church ? Now in this day we must have vision so we know what to work toward. For without vision the people perish as it is written. It is God's will that not one perish for He loves all who call upon His name. So are fellowship is with all who call upon His name.
So, in light of the many dreams and visions coming forth to the Body, getting something out of the Word should be no big thing. I believe the Lord has revealed something out of His Word to me by revelation concerning church structure that would bring LIFE and freedom to His Body.. By the Lords grace he has allowed me to experience to some degree some of these things flowing. 1 Cor. 14:6 says, Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? The word here to emphasize is revelation, a revelation on the way we should be coming together as believers so the Lord can flow thru each member. The way the early church came together in structure in Paul's day was quite different from the way we assemble ourselves now. Paul instructs us not to forsake the way he instructed. 2 Thessalonians 2:15 say's; " Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle". In this light, the scripture in Hebrews 10:25 "not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging {one another;} and all the more as you see the day drawing near" takes on a different meaning. How can we encourage one another if the structure is not correct to do that, also assembling yourselves together does not mean to come to church and sit in chairs while somebody who is designated by man gets up and gives a message. No, that scripture is talking about assembling each of the body parts, each of the living stones and working as one to bring forth the truth and the complete council of God. For each part has things God has deposited in that soul and must be able to express that if we are able to grow in the Spirit. The present church system or old wineskin cannot do this, the very structure does not allow it. Protected by a pulpit these men exalt themselves as being something and no one can say anything because they are protected. Has anybody ever stood up when somebody was preaching and said they did not bear witness?? Poor guy he would be thrown out as being rude and discourteous and interrupting the man of God. Did you ever see Jesus act like that in the scripture??? Did you ever see Jesus kill anybody like that??? Oh, but the Nicolatians would say we must have safe guards, we must protect the people. What ever happened to Gods protection. Remember Ananias, with Sapphira his wife. Acts 5. I think God had control of the meetings back then and spoke thru living stones.
So I wrote this little article on the direction the body of Christ should be going according to the Word of God. Vision on were we are going in the Spirit. I don't believe that this has come from my own scheming because I believe it came from the Holy Spirit and it glorifies Christ as being the true head of the Church, His Body. I believe there is no condemnation for all of us because of our lack of understanding but this is something to consider as we go deeper with the Lord and His purposes for His Body.
How Should We Come Together As A Church ?
by Rick Roman
The way we assemble in church today is not the way the bible teaches to assemble. Church should be a supernatural happening with God. We should have a divine encounter with The Holy Spirit. Much of the structure we have today stops the Lord from moving through His people. We are to be building a habitation for the Lord.
1 Corinthians 14:26 to 40 is a picture of how we are to come together
The New American Standard Version says;
V 26. What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
New Living Translation says: Well, my brothers and sisters, let's summarize what I am saying. When you meet, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in an unknown language, while another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must be useful to all and build them up in the Lord.
This does not sound like a pastor getting up and giving his 5 point message.
No, it’s sounds like a body ministry to me. The Holy Spirit coming forth from every member, from every part of the body. Jesus is the head of the church, Christ is the head of every man (no pastor is), and God as head should be in control of the meeting. There is no set persons to do set things, things are done spontaneously. When God is in control, things are done in order because His Spirit is leading the meeting and men have grown sensitive in there spirits to move with God in an orderly fashion. This type of a meeting can only be done by a humble people who have learned to be one with the Lord and have learned to love one another. This is the type of people who will build a habitation for the Lord Spirit.
There is a right structure that Paul the apostle has laid down and we would do well if we began to understand it and not forsake it. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:25)
How can we exhort one another when the very church system we have only allows certain designated people to speak??? God is not able to come forth from the rest of the body, we become spectators.
Webster's Bible
2 Thessalonians 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold (to) the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
Brothers, I would say that 1st Cor. 14:26 to 40 is part of Paul’s epistle that we are not to forsake, it is the traditions that Paul has laid down. I call it the order of meetings, a structure for the Lord’s habitation in His people, a building of living stones moving the way they were meant to move by the Lords power flowing thru them in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit. ( Ephesians 2:21-22 )
Let’s look at the picture these scriptures (1st Cor. 14:26 to 40 ) are bringing forth. We are all assembled, brothers and sisters in the Lord, no one lording it over anyone, there is no room for a hierarchy. All in one accord waiting for the Lord to move by His Spirit upon the stones of His Body. Our structure is such so as to give freedom for the Lord to have control. One brother feels impressed to lead out in a spiritual song, when that is done another brother is led to lead out in a hymn, after that another person is led by the spirit to speak a psalm, then a person gets up and gives a teaching that the Lord has been putting upon his heart. After that a brother who is sensitive to the Holy Spirit receives a revelation and wants to share it with every one. ( For where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty ). God is in control not men. Then somebody speaks out in a tongue, then in the back of the room another tongue is given and we are all quiet and waiting for the interpretation, somebody on the other side of the room is obedient to the Lord and gives the interpretation. Now the Holy Spirit is beginning to move on the prophets in our midst, one stands and starts to speak, everyone else is paying attention, another prophet gets up and speaks, the people are passing judgment if what they are saying is from God or not, open discussion, do we bear witness in our spirits or not. We are learning how to hear the anointing inside us. As it is written in 1st John 2:26-27. These things have I written unto you concerning them that would lead you astray. And as for you, the anointing which ye received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any one teach you; but as his anointing teacheth you; concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, ye abide in him.
Then someone who is seated receives a revelation, he raises his hand and say’s he just received a revelation, the one who is speaking sits down and gives way to the person who received the revelation. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted, and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets, in other words we don't have to be hyper and can have courtesy and love for one another, preferring one another, because we have become a people poor in spirit, for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. ( 1 Cor. 14:31-33) We can wait for a right time to speak so it does not cause confusion.
Now Paul say’s about this:
If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord's commandment. But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized. Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues. But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner. (1 Cor. 14:37-40 )
If some one speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in his turn, and let one give an
interpretation. But in case there is no interpreter, ( in case there is no one open to the Spirit to flow thru them for the interpretation) let them ( the people ) keep still in the church; let each of them speak to himself and to God. ( Let them pray that they may interpret ).
On occasion someone spoke out in a tongue and The Holy Spirit came on me to interpret and I was to afraid to speak out the interpretation ( for the fear of man causes a snare ).
13. Therefore let one who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.
For our foundation of these kinds of gatherings must be founded on the foundation of what our head Jesus Christ has said because He makes us all brothers equal to one another and by no means are we to follow the example of the Gentiles ( unbelievers ) who Lord it over one another because of a superior hierarchy mind set.
Matthew 20:25-26
25. But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them.
26. It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant,
And in Matthew 23:8-12 NAS :
. "But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers.
9. "Do not call {anyone} on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.
10. "Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, {that is,} Christ.
11. "But the greatest among you shall be your servant.
12. "Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.
I like calling this the ground rules for a free flow meeting in the Holy Spirit.

Rick
