Biography
My love affair with music began at the age of seven when my family lived in Everett, Washington. I witnessed a choir of nuns echoing praise throughout the walls of a cathedral and knew then and there, “That’s what I want to do!” Soon after I handed my life over to God and so began my journey. I would sing to anyone, any place, at any time. I loved to sing and entertain anyone who would take the time to listen. My family relocated to Utah when I was ten years old, and I continued to entertain anyone I could find. Finally, my opportunity to solo came at age twelve. My joy was nearly tangible. However, events happened in my life that were an attempt to break me. I suffered from abuse in every unimaginable way, and by sixteen, I had run away from home. I married at eighteen, divorced at nineteen, and married my soul mate at twenty. It was at that point my husband and I rededicated our lives to Jesus. Thus, my road to healing began. God met me and picked up the broken pieces of my life. I learned that we really can trade our ashes for beauty, and I am a living, breathing example of God’s grace and mercy. My husband and I have now been married for nearly nineteen years and have been blessed with three beautiful children. He is a successful, loving, wonderful supporter and has displayed God-like unconditional love. Without him, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today. He truly is my biggest fan. I’ve had the opportunity to lead worship at a local church for three years, and I have the deep desire to go outside the local church community and reach those who haven’t had the chance to come to the Lord. From there, the band was started and we lead worship in our State Capital, several parks, wedding, churches, and secular events. I loved every minute of it! We traveled and even placed second in a local contest called Utah’s Next. Along this journey, I have learned so much and have been blessed to partner with some great people. We’ve learned to put one foot in front of the other and honestly walk in faith to pursue the heart’s dream. But when my pastor resigned in 2004, I felt it was the time to re-evaluate my life, to sit on the back pew, and allow God to redefine who I am. I’ve learned His love when we surrender our dreams and ourselves. It was then I came forth with a new understanding of my journey. It was time to go on my own and pursue my childhood dreams, and my life hasn’t been the same since. One of my greatest motivators is Darlene Zchech of Hillsongs Australia. I was awed by her honest passion and heart for God. I even had the wonderful honor of attending the “Hillsong’s Conference” in Australia. Other influences have included The Eagles, Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Cash, Stevy Nicks, The Doobie Brothers, Third Day, Amy Grant, Rita Springer, and so many more. “Here I Am” is the title of this LP, and the anthem of my life that resonates so deeply that I can’t fully grasp hold of it or even breathe without it. “Here I am” is constantly on my lips. It presents all of me, the good, the bad, and the ugly, continuously to Christ. I’ve learned I can’t run fast enough, hard enough, or far enough to escape my Father, so I have learned to present myself to Him and say... “Here I Am”. I here Him whisper to me in reply… “Here I Am”. It has taken me to a new depth in my walk and given me the true knowledge that I will never arrive or be perfect. I have never been more aware of my need for my Savior. My desire is to impart to people that we are a work in progress. I have a deep love and passion for young people to know the truth and be set free. I long to see men and women not be victims, but to rise up and be all God has planned them to be, to know how to love and display that love to their friends and families. The world needs to know that Jesus waits for each and every person, He longs for a relationship with us all, His creation. Who am I? I am a daughter of the King of Kings, and my Father holds the whole world in His hands. Here I am, all of me, use my life to bring joy, and glory, and honor to your holy name.
